Welcome to our new Instron Community Blog hosted by Instron. It is a compilation of the freshest, brightest, most-talented minds that Instron has to offer. The world of materials science is so vast and encompasses the broadest range of industries, materials, and challenges that no one person can possibly possess all the knowledge required to be the resident expert – or master of materials science. It takes a small army behind the scenes collaborating and sharing technical know-how, experiences, and ideas to present the most accurate, relevant, and timely information to you – our readers.
We invite you to tell us who you are, share your stories and talk about your experiences. Join the Instron Community.

Software Module Increases Test Frequency for Fatigue Testing of Composites and Polymers
Senior Applications Specialist for Dynamic Systems, Peter Bailey shares with AZoM how the Specimen Self-Heating Control (SSHC) module to WaveMatrix™ Materials Testing Software can enhance fatigue testing of composites and polymers.
SSHC optimizes test frequency by maintaining consistent specimen temperature and reducing energy with shorter test durations, promoting increased throughput and consistency.

Going Global: Instron TERM Meets with Researchers Around the World!
The past several months have had Instron TERM circling the globe. We have attended conferences in Canada, China, South Korea, and the United States. We have been speaking with premier researchers, physicians, and industry leaders in the field of regenerative medicine and introducing Instron’s newest instrument solutions for this application. We have had the pleasure of demonstrating both electromechanical and dynamic instruments in combination with bioreactors, receiving a great deal of interest in these combination solutions.
In Asia, we have learned that they are building tissue engineering labs for multiple tissue types and, as a result, researchers have a broad interest. This broad interest means an interest in all of Instron's instruments and solutions. These labs are aggressively building capabilities with short timelines to deliver regenerative medicine therapies to the population in quick order.
In the United States,
most researchers are focused on a specific tissue type; however, they
still have an interest across the Instron instrument platform,
especially for bone and ligament research applications.

Instron Drop Tower Showcased at 27th International Colloquium on Plastics Technology in Germany
Since 2011, the Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH Aachen University has been using a CEAST 9350 Drop Tower supplied by Instron Deutschland GmbH for its research activities. Visitors to the 27th International Colloquium on Plastics Technology in Aachen, Germany will be able to see the drop tower in action when presented by IKV March 19—20 .
With more than 700 visitors expected to attend and more than 50 exhibitors, the Colloquium is a major meeting point for innovative organizations from the plastics sector, providing them with fresh momentum for their work through exchange of ideas with experts from IKV and its network. At "IKV 360°" the Institute will present highlights of its work and open its laboratories for live demonstrations and discussions with its visitors while the systems are running.

Major Platform Extensions to Bluehill® 3
This is a release we and many of our customers have been waiting for. With release 3.51, lab managers can finally standardize on Bluehill® 3 for all their static tests across all our current static (Electromechanical, Static Hydraulic) and dynamic testing machines (Servo Hydraulic and ElectroPuls systems). Starting with 3.51, Bluehill® 3 can also be used to set up and run torsion tests on the MT Torsion line of testers. Apart from the platform extensions, this release also has some nice enhancements geared towards high temperature applications and metals testing.
